Storage and export controls

Retention
The tool's working state is kept only while this page is open. Inputs and results are not saved to persistent storage by Got A Tool.
Export
The tool may prepare a result after you run it. It downloads or copies it only when you choose that action.

Advertising and analytics are separate site services. We do not send selected tool input to them. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

How it works

Remove only the contact fields you choose.

01

Inspect one VCF file

See which supported privacy field types are present before changing the file.

02

Select field types deliberately

Choose notes, birthdays, addresses, organizations, job titles, URLs, or categories. Every matching field is removed from every contact.

03

Download a filtered copy

Review the removal count and save a new VCF. The source file is not modified.

What stays unchanged

Selection is by property type, never by a guess about a contact.

Unselected fields

A field stays in its original place unless you select its exact property type. The tool does not infer what a value means.

Photos and X- fields

PHOTO properties and unknown X- fields are outside this tool's scope and remain unchanged.

Example

Selecting NOTE removes notes, not neighbouring contact data.

If you select only NOTE, each complete NOTE field is removed. EMAIL and unknown X- fields remain in their original order, so the change is limited to the property type you chose.

Before

NOTE:Call after 5 PM
EMAIL:lee@example.com
X-CUSTOM:keep-this

After NOTE is selected

EMAIL:lee@example.com
X-CUSTOM:keep-this

Continue the workflow

Choose the next VCF task by its purpose.

Which fields can this version remove?

You can select NOTE, BDAY, ADR, ORG, TITLE, URL, and CATEGORIES. The page shows the count for each available type before you remove it.

Does it remove only one contact's address or note?

No. Selecting a field type removes every matching field from every contact in the file. Review the property count before downloading.

Are folded or encoded vCard fields partly removed?

No. A selected property is handled as one complete vCard field block, including its folded continuation lines. Unselected fields stay unchanged.

Does it remove embedded photos?

No. Use VCF Photo Stripper when you want to remove readable embedded PHOTO data.

What is the file limit?

Choose one VCF or vCard file smaller than 30 MB.

Is my VCF uploaded?

No. Inspection, selection, filtering, and download happen in your browser.

Practical guide

Read the Contact-sharing checklist

Decide whether the next step is a transfer or a share, remove only the contact fields you selected, and inspect the downloaded copy before you send it.
