How it works

Add clear page labels in three steps

01

Choose a PDF

Open one unlocked PDF from your device. The original is not changed.

02

Set the sequence

Choose pages, a starting number, a position, and optional text before or after each number.

03

Review the copy

Download the numbered PDF and inspect the label placement before sharing it.

Numbering choices

The labels follow the pages you select.

Page selection controls where labels are drawn; it also controls the sequence. For example, selecting pages 2, 4, and 5 with a starting number of 10 adds 10, 11, and 12 to those pages. Other pages remain unnumbered.

Check placement on the finished PDF

This tool draws text onto a new copy. A margin that is clear on one page may overlap artwork, a footer, or a rotated page on another. Review the download before sending or printing it.

Questions

PDF page numbering questions

Does it remove or reorder pages?

No. It adds visible page-number text to the pages you select. Use Delete PDF Pages to remove pages or Reorder PDF Pages to change their order.

Can I continue an existing sequence?

Yes. Set the starting number to the first number you need. You can also add a prefix or suffix, such as Page 10 or 10 of report.

Can I use an encrypted PDF?

No. This version does not ask for a password. Open an unlocked copy first, then add page numbers.

Does it redact existing page numbers or private content?

No. Added text is not a redaction tool and it does not remove existing content. Use a purpose-built redaction workflow when information must be removed before sharing.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened, numbered, and downloaded in your browser. Got A Tool does not receive or store the document.
