Private and format-safe
Real conversion without a server upload.
A dedicated browser worker decodes, resizes, and re-encodes each image. Both the reported MIME type and the output file signature are checked before a download is offered.

Common questions
Which image formats are supported?
Static JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP images can be used as input and output. GIF, AVIF, SVG, HEIC, and HEIF are not supported in this version because the browser cannot convert them reliably through the same private worker pipeline.
What happens to transparency when I choose JPG?
JPEG does not support transparent pixels. The tool fills them with white by default, or with the background color you choose, before encoding the JPG.
Can I compress an image to 100 KB without reducing its dimensions?
Choose JPG or WebP, keep original size and enable Try a maximum file size. Enter 100 KB (100,000 bytes). The tool tests up to 11 quality levels without automatically resizing or switching formats. It reports the actual output size. If none of those levels meets the target, the smallest tested result is marked Target not met. You can deliberately choose smaller dimensions and try again. Lower encoder quality can remove visible detail; inspect the result before using it.
Does target size guarantee an exact file size?
No. It is a maximum-size attempt, not an exact-size guarantee or an exhaustive search of every encoder setting. Output varies with image content and browser encoder. PNG remains lossless and does not offer this mode. Each file in a batch reports its own target result.
Will image metadata be preserved?
No. Conversion uses decoded pixels only. Source EXIF, GPS location, ICC profile, DPI, and other metadata are not copied to the output. JPEG orientation is applied first so supported phone photos remain upright.
Are my images uploaded or stored?
No. Supported conversions run in a dedicated worker inside your browser. Got A Tool does not receive or store the selected images or converted files.
