Tip Calculator: a practical guide
A tip calculator estimates gratuity from a bill amount and percentage, then divides the bill plus tip evenly across a group. Enter the amount before tip and choose a tip rate and party size. The calculator keeps the currency you use; it does not choose a currency or apply local tipping rules.

What this tool does and its limits
The formula is bill × tip percentage, followed by an even split of the bill plus tip. The displayed per-person amount is rounded to two decimal places and may not add up exactly when multiplied by the group size. Tax, service charges, fees, and uneven contribution amounts are not included.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the tip apply before or after tax?
- This calculator uses the bill amount you enter. It does not identify or separate tax, so enter the amount you intend to use as the tip base.
- Does it support different currencies?
- It does not convert currencies. Results use the same currency as the amount entered.
- Why might each person's share not total exactly?
- Each displayed share is rounded to two decimal places; small rounding differences can occur when the shares are added.
- Are tax and service fees included?
- No. The calculator uses only the amount you enter and does not add tax or fees.
