How it works
Age Calculator: a practical guide
Age can mean completed years or an exact calendar interval. This calculator uses a birth date and a chosen comparison date to report completed years, remaining months and days, elapsed calendar days, and the day count until the next birthday.
- STEP 01
Enter a valid date of birth.
- STEP 02
Use the default current date or choose another calculation date.
- STEP 03
Calculate and review the calendar interval and next-birthday count.
What this tool does and its limits
The calculation uses Gregorian calendar dates and does not use the time of day. It advances anniversaries by whole calendar months and clamps a date to the last valid day of a shorter month. For example, a February 29 birthday is treated as February 28 in a non-leap year. Different age-counting conventions may give another month-and-day breakdown at month ends.
Inputs, selected files, and results stay in your browser. The tool does not upload them to Got A Tool or save them to persistent storage.
Questions
Age Calculator details
Can I calculate age on a past or future date?
Yes. Select any valid date on or after the birth date.
How are leap-day birthdays handled?
February 29 is treated as February 28 in a non-leap year for this calculator's anniversary convention.
Does it calculate hours or time zones?
No. It works with calendar dates only; time of day and time zone are not inputs.
Why might another calculator show a different month/day result?
Months have different lengths, so tools may use different conventions for end-of-month dates. This tool clamps anniversaries to the last day of the target month.
